“CORE has helped…1,000%!”

I first came to CORE after suffering a gun attack in my apartment in the middle of the night. I had heard of things like this but never imagined it would happen to me. I remember the ugliness of opening my eyes and seeing all of this debris falling on my face. It was terrible. I had to roll on the ground to get to a safe place to hide from the gunshots and asbestos. The next day I didn’t want to leave my house or do anything. I just wanted to stay locked up, but something popped into my head about CORE El Centro because I had heard about this place before. I said, “I need to go there”, and within two days I walked in the door. From the moment I walked in, I knew it would change my life. Laura greeted me and then I was able to speak with Fabiola. Everyone here is so kind and sweet. That puts you at ease; you feel comforted and confident when you come here. That confidence is important in the process of healing! 

I began with Nia and then tried Reiki treatments and some massages. I like to say that Nia gave me bones – like the wood of Pinocchio – and Reiki breathed life into me. Nia helped me to express what’s inside me. I love the movements. When I hear the music and the instructor’s voice, I feel my heart telling me “if you move your arm this way you will go that way, if you move that way your life will go that way”. So I can really connect with my body and feel it telling me what I desire and don’t desire. This was how I rid my body of the rage and the fear I felt from what happened to me and replaced them with courage and strength. My body realized my strength. I continued to learn about myself through Reiki. I heard about Reiki but never tried it, and it’s fabulous!  

I feel... No, I don’t feel... I am stronger. More decisive. I have learned to lose my fear. I have learned to say “no” and above all I am “me”. I am Rosa and no one can change that because these therapies are incredible and work! This strength is contagious too. I share it with my family and friends – I love to tell people how within all of us there is this strength that no one can quell. People can enter our lives who try to change that, but we can’t give them that pleasure.  

I’m grateful to God that this place exists that helps so many people - grateful from the bottom of my heart. CORE has helped the community and myself so much – I like to say 1,000%! I have recommended these services to all my friends!
