A Summer of Abundance
The rooftop garden at our Bruce Street clinic is an important part of our mission! We love it, and we were so glad to be back up there together this summer!
It was a team effort! Many staff members were involved in keeping things buzzing….

Volunteering!
Thanks to our wonderful volunteers, the garden has received loving care this summer! The conditions of a rooftop garden such as high wind and other extreme weather exposure make regular watering essential. Dedicated volunteers and staff have committed to regular watering shifts and garden maintenance. Volunteers have also come out and enjoyed community garden shifts, which has been time to connect, weed, plant and enjoy this very special space together. Thanks to our volunteers, the rooftop garden is happy, healthy, and enjoyed by bees and humans alike!

¡Servicios Voluntarios!
Gracias a nuestros queridos voluntarios, el jardín ha recibido cariño y cuidado este verano. Las condiciones del jardín del techo debidos a aires fuertes y otros climas extremos al cual fue expuesto, ha requerido que se riegue con agua regularmente lo cual fue esencial. Voluntarios y empleados dedicados se han encomendado a regar y mantener el jardín en turnos regulares. Voluntarios también han venido a disfrutar el jardín por turnos, para conectar, deshierbar, plantar y disfrutar este espacio especial juntos. ¡Gracias a nuestros voluntarios, el jardín del techo está muy feliz, sano y siendo disfrutado por las abejas y humanos por igual!

Growing herbs and producing honey
This has been a fun yet challenging season for the roof top garden. We began honey and tea production in May. We doubled our beehives this year, and they performed very well with over 100 pounds of raw honey harvested. The perennial herbs did very well also despite the drought. We harvested and preserved Chamomile, bergamot, mint, stevia, lavender, and yarrow. We will be selling teas using these great herbs with anti-cold, anti-inflammatory, and relaxing properties. Teas and honey will be available to the public soon!
We also added some annual flowers to bring more color to the rooftop!
Overall, it was a great season, and we look forward to another successful season next year.

¡Cosechamos hierbas y producimos miel!
Esta ha sido una temporada divertida pero desafiante para el jardín de techo. Empezamos la producción de té y miel en el mes mayo. Multiplicamos el doble de nuestras colmenas este año y preformaron muy bien dándonos más de 100lbs de miel cruda. Las hierbas perenes también hicieron muy bien a pesar de la sequía. Cosechamos y preservamos manzanilla, bergamota, menta, Stevia, lavanda y milenrama. Vamos a vender tés usando estas hiervas que contienen propiedades contra el resfriado e inflamación y que también son útiles para el relajamiento. ¡Los tés y la miel van a estar disponibles al público muy pronto!
¡También agregamos flores anuales para dar más color al techo!
Sobre todo, está a sido una gran temporada y esperamos tener otra temporada exitosa para el próximo año.
