Con un corazón triste compartimos la noticia de que hemos perdido a una de nuestras queridas miembros del personal, Teresa Contreras. Ella y su esposo Luis murieron en un trágico accidente automovilístico el sábado por la noche. Teresa estuvo en CORE el Centro durante 16 años; Comenzó en el rol de coordinadora del Programa Infantil, se convirtió en instructora de Zumba y más recientemente fue Gerente del Programa Mujeres Con Poder. Mientras el personal de CORE el Centro se reunía en zoom para comenzar a procesar esta tragedia, algunas de las palabras utilizadas para describir a Teresita fueron: luchadora, apasionada, efervescente, líder, enérgica, alegre, orientada a la familia, dedicada a las generaciones futuras y líder de la comunidad. Al final de nuestra reunión, un miembro del personal compartió este poema:

Me gustaría que el recuerdo de mi sea feliz. Me gustaría dejar un resplandor de sonrisas cuando la vida haya terminado. Me gustaría dejar un eco susurrando suavemente por los caminos de tiempos felices y momentos de risa y días brillantes y soleados. Me gustaría que las lagrimas de los que lloran, se sequen antes del sol de recuerdos felices que dejo cuando la vida acaba.

I would like for the memory of me to be happy.

With a sad and heavy heart we share the news that we have lost one of our cherished staff members, Teresa Contreras. She and her husband Luis died in a tragic car accident Saturday evening. Teresa was with CORE el Centro for 16 years; she started in the role of coordinator of the Children’s Program, became a Zumba instructor, and most recently was a Manager of the Mujeres Con Poder Program.

As CORE el Centro staff gathered on zoom to begin processing this tragedy, some of the words used to describe Teresita were: feisty, passionate, effervescent, leader, energetic, joyful, family oriented, dedicated to future generations, and a community leader.

At the end of our gathering a staff member shared this poem:

I would like for the memory of me to be happy. I would like to leave a glow of smiles when life is over. I would like to leave an echo whispering gently along the paths of happy times and moments of laughter and bright and sunny days. I would like the tears of those who cry to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life ends.

We hold Teresa and Luis’ three daughters and their entire family in our heart, thoughts, and prayers. We’ll continue to communicate through our website and Facebook page ways to support her family and celebrate the gift of her life.
